Intro to Distribution

Introduction to Distribution is a central element of the ICP core curriculum. The course helps students understand management concepts, principles and applications for effective operation of industrial distribution firms.

Many community colleges already offer a distribution course that covers logistics. This survey course expands the focus beyond physical distribution to include:

  • Distributor role in the supply chain.
  • Profitability components in industrial distribution.
  • Types of industrial distributors.
  • Various end-user market channels.
  • Purchasing processes.
  • Pricing and markup strategies.
  • Inventory control and management.

At each school program, course content is customized with input from the local Advisory Committee. Sample curriculum and detailed course materials are available for instructor use.
