Curriculum Overview
The ICP curriculum positions entry-level employees to succeed in
industrial distribution. While no one program can teach everything
needed to succeed in every business, the curriculum:
- Provides a solid grounding in fundamentals.
- Addresses core competencies for entry-level and
experienced employees, as defined by extensive research with
successful distributor salespeople.
- Teaches critical skills and knowledge through classwork and on-the-job training.
- Delivers a versatile education that allows employers to focus on
advanced skill development.
- Allows students to work towards a certificate and/or
associate’s degree, depending on current experience and career
objectives.
The core curriculum includes:
- Computer keyboarding and applications.
- Business writing and math.
- Customer service and sales.
- Introduction to distribution.
- Marketing principles.
- Blueprint reading.
- Electives selected from specialized product technology and
application courses.
The curriculum is customized at each school to meet the specific needs of local
employers.
