Internships are a great way for employers to help educate the future workforce about careers in industrial distribution and also "test drive" some young people to see if they might be a right-fit for long-term employment in your organization. But finding an intern can be a challenge.

ICP has recently launched the Find-an-Intern directory
to help you connect with schools that help students find internships. You can search the directory by school name, city, state or ZIP code to locate a school near you. Or leave the search criteria fields blank to see all the schools listed so far in the directory.

Once you find a school near you, reach out to that school's program director to start the process of finding an intern for your business. ICP will be updating the Find-an-Intern directory frequently, so check back often! Wondering how to set up an internship program? ICP's got you covered. Check out our ICP Internship How To Guide

Coming soon: A directory where intern-wannabes can find you! Stay tuned to Pathway for details! You can also send us an email requesting to be listed in our employer directory, where prospective interns can find YOU.
one staff person and one member company employee from each ICP Alliance partner association, met in Denver on July 21 & 22, 2015. They were joined by the ICP Millennial Advisory Council which is comprised of one under age 30 member company employee from each Alliance Partner association.

In addition to discussing ICP's progress over the past year and working on new ideas to create awareness of the field of industrial distribution among right-fit 16-24 year olds, the committee made a presentation to approximately

30 students and alumni at the University of Colorado Denver Business School.  The presenters talked about the opportunities available in industrial distribution and how they got started in the field. The question-and-answer period yielded valuable back-and-forth discussions among students and presenters.

Concluding the group's business, Tribby Warfield, PTDA Foundation representative to the ICP Steering Committee, was selected to succeed Terry Knight as chair of the ICP Steering Committee starting in 2016.
Article3Radicon USA and ICP Attend Manufacturing Day 2015
This year, ICP endorsed the worldwide celebration of Manufacturing Day. Manufacturing Day's purpose is to educate the next generation of employees about the field of manufacturing. Studies have shown younger generations have a negative image of and are increasingly unfamiliar with the purpose and career opportunities in manufacturing. Manufacturing Day was created to change minds and showcase the industry in a positive light.

ICP encouraged manufacturers to host/find local events near them and invite their distributors to participate along with them. Leading by example, Chirag Patel, Radicon USA, accompanied by Amber Siple, PTDA Foundation, attended a Manufacturing Day career fair event hosted by Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Ill., where they met with over 150 college and high school students from the surrounding communities.

  Chirag Patel and Amber Siple

"I loved telling students about these career opportunities and watching them get excited about envisioning their futures within the industry!" said Amber. "It truly is unbelievable how many students know nothing about these jobs. It just goes to show how important it is for us, as an industry, to get out there and educate them."

Manufacturing Day events occur throughout the month of October. If you would like to get involved or find events near you, visit

We have been studying Generation Y (Millennials) for some time now, but there's a whole new generation sneaking up on us: Generation Z. This generation of 23 million was born between roughly 1995 to 2010.

The oldest of Generation Z are already 20 years old and are proving to be similar to their Millennial predecessors in some ways, but also very different in others. Check out this Gen Z presentation put together by Ginger Wheeler, PTDA Foundation director, marketing and communications.
